All Stars...

What a beautiful weekend. Almost too hot. It didn't slow down these guys one bit. Spent a couple hours Saturday afternoon getting some shots of the Brewers. Congratulations on the win guys. Here's just a few of my favorites. I can envision these guys playing pro in just ten or fifteen years. They seem to have what it takes already. Great game!

The PADRE foundation-support juvenile diabetes research

It's that time again. The PADRE annual talent show and fundraiser. Last year at this time, I took photos of my good friend Robin's beautiful daughter Miranda for the program to the event. And this year, it was an honor to do the same thing. I hope it becomes an annual thing. I have a great time when anyone gets in front of my camera, and today was no exception. As with any shoot, there is always one image that seems to shine more than the others. (although I must say, they were all adorable) And everyone may have a different favorite, but this was mine. Definitely click on it to see it a bit bigger. This young lady will be stopping traffic for sure.

Feel the sun on your face

Sometimes it's hard to find a picture to illustrate a point. Usually, it works the other way around for me. I took this picture last year when my friend's kids were having a blast at Adventure Playground. And I was having a blast with my camera.

Working in the healthcare field you learn that the last days sometimes come much sooner than you'll know.
This reminds me to take a moment from every day to just be quiet, turn my face to the sky, feel the warmth of the sun, and be thankful for the day.
Enjoy the day.

Kendall and Brandon...

are engaged. The moment was amazing. I wish I would have snuck in closer. But here is one image from the day.
More to follow. It is another absolutely beautiful sunny day, so I am heading outside. Enjoy the day!!

Another day, another shoe

Enough said.

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

I passed by the table at WPPI. There were so many photographers gathered around, asking questions, taking brochures. I picked up a couple of information cards and read to myself as I walked on to the next class. I thought to myself, "This is something I will definitely do." And then I heard Sandy Puc speak. She described the first time she was called to the hospital for a session with a family. My attempt to not cry all of my makeup away was hopeless.
And I knew this was something I had to do.

Today I received an email from Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.
It started with "Congratulations!" (those are always good) I felt my heart skip when I read those words.
Charity is one of the main reasons I began this journey. I'm looking forward to starting other projects as well. I have witnessed some truly painful and heartbreaking situations throughout my years as a nurse, too many to count. I feel so privileged to have another way to give back to a family during such unspeakable grief. This will be a great fit for me.

It is also good to check those goals off your list. Passport, check. Charity, check. And I am moving forward.

Happy Sunday.

After an trip to Dream Dinners yesterday, I took a quick drive up Ortega Highway just to look around. San Juan Capistrano is just full of beautiful places to shoot. I passed by a house with some cool old tractors in the front drive. There was also a statue of Mary with rosaries and candles. I loved the colors of it. So just some random pictures for Sunday. Have a relaxing day.

got fur?

So, not all of my blog posts will be about my dog. This one is actually more about my never ending battle to conquer the fur flying and floating around my house, yard, garage, etc. My solution to this problem- the Furminator. I have bought one of these before, but somehow misplaced it. Or maybe my dog buried it. Kona has been shedding so much lately, it was time to buy a new one. For a dog brush, it's expensive. I'm not kidding. Really expensive. But I was reminded today that it just might be worth every cent. I had to take him to the end of the street to avoid all the fur blowing back into the garage. When I was done, it looked like some poor small animal had been attacked and lost the fight.
Typically, Kona does not stand still to be brushed. This time he did. I think he kind of liked it.

So, if you've got one of these....

I highly recommend one of these...the Furminator
